La Vita Che Vorrei(The Life I Want)
La Vita Che Vorrei(The Life I Want,2004) is directed by Giuseppe Piccioni. There are two marvelous stars in the film: Luigi Lo Cassio and Sandra Ceccarelli. Their acting are extremely skillful and resembles to the real life.
There are a lot of close-ups in the beginning of the film, I felt uncomfortable because I don't like to be so close to people. But the fuction of the close-ups is to bring the audience into the world of the film, and I did feel that I went into the world of the character at that sight.
The story is very romantic and earned my few drops of my tears when I watched it. The characters felt confused with their real life and roles of being the actors. Despite the genres of the films, it seemed that the directors discuss the similar topic in their film. It's interesting.
I felt deeply fond of this film, but in a way it's especially hard for me to express the feeling by words. I wish I'll be able to write an intruiging love story which covers a lot of topics that interests me some day.

Completion of the Graduation Shows
The graduation shows reached completion tonight, fianlly!! There were no absent seats, and the audience laughed out loud and applauded ardently, I felt so encouraged.
I remember I was very nervous in our first show, and then I felt at ease once when I became very familiar with the timing of the show. Each time the actors may have a bit different movements and the speed of speaking,so to have an unspoken consensus is really important.
I felt that I worked so smoothly in today's two shows, it gave me a great feeling of accomplishment.
People might think that to work in the lighting team is an easy job. But to tell the truth,it's not as easy as what they imagined because sometimes I was scolded by the stage manager ruthlessly. She even slapped my hands when she wasn't satisfied with the lighting.
In such awkward condition, I felt like crying but I had to suppress my tears. Somtimes I couldn't help but thinking desperately that she didn't respect me at all, otherwise she wouldn't have insulted me by such physical punishment.
But I survived after all these. I'm really glad that I wasn't humiliated myself cos I proved my competence by completing my job successfully today, and she even praised our lighting team.
The actors had great performance in today's two shows. It really showed that practice makes perfect. Their acting became more and more skillful and lively.
Our instructor distributed everyone, who had participated in the show,a paper of "The Thespian Honor Society" after Curtain Call. So I also had the chance to be on the stage in the last show, how surprising!I felt grateful cos I wasn't forgotten by the instructor even when I worked behind the stage.
It's an interesting experience. Besides, thanks for the graduation shows that my legs became a bit thinner for standing long hours to work in these days. I'm sure that I'll fall asleep right away tonight and have sweet dreams. Expecting for a wonderful Sunday cos it'll be a new life tomorrow.

Fauteuils d'Orchestre
Fauteuils d'Orchestre is directed by Danièle Thompson. She wrote a lot of movie scripts, such as "Les Aventures de Rabbi Jacob"(1973), "Ce Qui M'aiment Prendront Le Train"(1998),"La bûche"(1999)," La Bicyclette Bleu "(2000),"Décalage horaire(Jet Lag)"(2002),and "Fauteuils d'Orchestre"(2006).
The cast of the film is strong, including Cécile de France, Valérie Lemercier, Albert Dupontel, Laura Motante, Claude Brasseur, Christopher Thompson, Annelise Hesme,Dani.
The main plot is about a famous pianist who feels fatigued and suffocated by his daily life. He wants to get out of it. There are some stories develops around this trunk. For instance, there is the topic of the relationship between father and son, and wife and husband. Besides, the film depicts a plain girl how she earns people's respect and her true love. There is also a story about an actress how she employs her talents on the stage, how she expresses her sensitive ideas on interpretation of the play, and how she gets the admiration of an American director in the end.
It seemed a bit complicated on the first sight when I watched the film. Neverthelss,I found out the common point among these stories is that these characters try to search their self-identification and to revive their life. For example, the pianist felt suffocated because he was numb to his life. He didn't know why he had to do the performance anymore. He got lost and felt confused. He said to his wife "Can't we just earn less money and have more voyages?" I think he reveals a lot people's voice. At first, his wife couldn't forgive him,but when she gradually understood how he felt, she gave him the second chance, and it's also the chance for their marriage. I felt very touched and I think the support of the intimate partner in our life is really crucial.
The setting in this film is very splendid. The decoration is luxurious, such as there are a lot of precious colleciton of the gallery. Moreover, the music plays a very important role in the play,it connects the whole film. I like Dani's role a lot. Frankly speaking, Dani's visage is somewhat peculiar, but she has her style. Her character in the film is the buff for rock and roll. She immerged herself in the world of music. She didn't know the beauty of classical music, but she listened to the emotion of the pianist that he expressed in his melody and touched by it in the end. It's rather interesting how music can transform people.

La Lectrice(The Reader)
La Lectrice(The Reader) is directed by Michel Devillle in 1988. The actress Miou Miou was around her early 30s. My first impression about Miou Miou was formed after watching her acting in the latest film called Avril(2006). She played an austere religious woman in it. Therefore, I was very surprised to see her young face in La Lectrice. She dyed her hair blond, so that creating a feeling like "femme fatale" for the character. I found out that the roles of Miou Miou is diversified in her films;her range is pretty wide. For example,in Elles(1997),she played an amiable professor, who was perplexed about the love and lust with one of her student, who is also the son of her good friend. It's very interesting to see different faces of Miou Miou.
The plot of La Lectrice is about a woman who read the bed story for her husband. In the beginning of reading, she found out that she had the obvious same feature like the character in the book. They both had nice voice. Then in the process of reading, she gradually had the empathy for the character, she was able to experience things from the character's perspective. That's why she felt agonied when she finished reading the story. She didn't want to let the character finished because in some degree it means that the character is dead and so did she. So she cried out loudly that "the character is finished but not me." She clarified her identification with the character, and seemed to get the epiphany or awakenig for her real life.
I think the main story is simple, and the detailed presentation is tangled. The direcor inserted the stories of the character of the book, and mingled them with the real life of "the reader". I made the association with Luigi Pirandello's drama "Six Characters in Search of an Author." about the part that "the reader" searched her identity.
I felt a bit confused for the color of the image. I wonder if it's the problem of the quality of the film, or it's the image that the camera man created on purpose? Because the images sometimes looked like blurred and read,so I felt that the image is somewhat rough. But in general, I like the rhythm and the angle of the camera.
I think the decoration and the costume in the film is interesting, too. For instance, "the reader" wore green and blue when she visited the disabled boy. I felt these two colors created a cool and tranquil feeling, which brought out a dramatic power when "the reader" tried to arouse the boy's desire. Because lust equals the color of red, so the image in my mental picture is the color of purple, which is also the symbol of lust, and loyalty. The image is that the boy seemed holy, elegant and uninvasive, but his mind is contronted with his desire. For another instance, the chairs in the businessman's house indicated the amboguious game that his reader played with him.
I enjoyed this film a lot.

The last second rehearsal
We resumed the rehearsal around 7pm.Our job seemed more flowing than yesterday. The speed of turning on light was also accelerated since there was no off scene any longer.
I felt less stressful after being accustomed to the operation of the keys. Besides, the stage supervisor stood beside me so we could control the timing of changing scenes more precisely. Our morale retrieved, so guys were more light-hearted,and that's beneficial to the efficiency of our job.
At this moment,I deeply agree with the importance of the team cooperation. Without the other two partners who control the spot light or without the assitance of the stage supervisor,I can never fulfill my duty in this play.
It was boisterous when guys practiced their dancing for the curtain call. It was funny cos they shaked their bodies passionately. I felt a bit envied cos I wasn't inside their circle. Nevertheless, we lighting team still had great time.
We danced on the booth with the melody of music. It was like our own small party. I couldn't help but burst out into laughing when seeing Claire vibrating her body passionately. Her movement was especially soft and nimble. It was fantastic.
Frankly speaking, the actors had nothing to do with us last semester cos they practiced acting in another place. I felt that the relationship between us was indifferent. But we commenced to combine our working with the actors in this semester, so that there is more frequent interaction with them. I prefer this for I don't feel that I'm useless or exclusive in this play.

Kieslowski(Polish Director)
I heard the reputation of Kieslowski before, but it was not until I watched "Camera Buff" and "A Short Film About Love" did I have interests in him and his film.
I agree with him that the love is the process when you sacrifice all of youself and demand nothing from the one you love. I think it's the puriest spiritual level. I felt so touched when I watched this scene.
But it's so complicated because maybe love also has to be the mutual feeling. When you offere a lot and receive few, or vice versa, maybe the love becomes not love. I imagine when you're mutual and nearly equal can this love becomes the whole. Well,I don't really know.
Kieslowski intended to go on the diet on purpose in order to evade the military service. He's similar to Taiwanese guys who try every mean to evade their military sercive. Though they're different time and nations, I found out the common phenomenon. This is very interesting. (When he was the most skinny,he was only 56kg for his 181cm figure. Marvelous! I wish I could have touched his skeleton,it might be exciting. Well, don't blame me that I'm erotic. It's just cos that I'm plump so the skeleton is attractive to me relatively. Imaging that there's no extra fat on the stomach,oh my...)
He said in the book "I believe that there are a lot of things that belong to the part of my life, but I can't be sure if they really happened on me. I have the vivid memory to these events, but it might merely be possible that other people once talked about them. In other words, I stole the events from other people's life.I don't even remember where did I steal them. I can't remember anything now. After stealing them,I started to believe that they did happen on me."
This paragraph is very intriguing. Few weeks ago, I had just discussed with my friend how the description and discourse can alter the memory.
Kieslowski had the difficulty to distinguish the real and the imagination. He was diagnosed as schizophrenia that is the same as Stephan in La Science des Rêves. (starred by Gabriel Garcia Bernal, one of my favorite movie star. I adore him for he acted so skillful, and for his black hair, black eyes, and brilliant smile.) This disease is mysterious.
He also mentioned the cultural difference between European culture and American culture. This interests me a lot, too. He said that when the American audience watched one of his film, they couldn't understand the meaning of the ending. He said the European audience would have understood cos the concept of homeland is very important to Europeans, for instance, when we read "Odyssey." He said that Americans move a lot, and that's why they couldn't understand the significance of the homeland.
In this point,I felt that European culture is close to Chinese culture. But I was a bit surprised cos I thought Europeans also move a lot, especially after the establishment of EU. For example, one of my Spanish friend moved from Spain to France,Italy,Spain again, and then England. I feel that he's like the flâneur. Once I asked him "You don't feel anxious or lack of the sense of security when you move so often?" Cos for me,I prefer to stay in the place for at least like 1 to 2 months, I don't like move all the time, it will makes me anxious and fatigued.
OK,time for me to go to bed. Maybe I'll talk more about the content of this book tomorrow cos it's an intriguing book that evokes my memory and inspiration. Or maybe I'll commence a new topic. Well, depends.
